Compensation

$54,600 - $62,700 per year plus an excellent benefits package for eligible employees.

The News Director supervises all aspects of the Boise State Public Radio news department, including assigning and editing stories for newscasts, planning features stories and local news and public service programming. The News Director supervises the news department staff, assigning stories and providing long range department planning. The News Director also reports and produces features, stories, and interviews on an as-needed basis. This person also serves as a backup host for the news magazine shows and would be available for voice-tracking pre-recorded programs. The News Director would be expected to work well with other associated editorial staff, such as the Regional Journalism Centers (RJCs) and editorial partnerships with other media organizations. This individual must understand budgeting, personnel management and the technical aspects of radio. In addition to having a firm understanding of the community service role of noncommercial broadcast journalism, he or she must also have solid news judgment – the ability to determine which stories are most informative and the greatest value to the communities Boise State Public Radio serves.
