Full-time On-Air Announcer/Producer

WBGO/NEWARK PUBLIC RADIO is the premiere Jazz broadcaster in the country, serving a NYC-metro terrestrial audience and a worldwide audience via WBGO.org. WBGO seeks to fill an upcoming vacancy in our roster of full-time announcers. The Announcer/Producer will serve a primary role as an on-air presenter of content, with additional duties including digital content creation/curation and station outreach.

Responsibilities Include:

• Production and hosting of live and pre-recorded program segments, including interviews
• Operation and monitoring of studio equipment for broadcasts
• Review, selection and preparation of library music and related information for broadcasts
• Accurate execution and notation of daily program log entries
• Accurate maintenance of on-air music playlist
• Digital content creation and curation, including digital audio production and web production
• Participation in station fundraising and outreach activities
• Audience engagement via social media
• Attendance of regularly scheduled staff meetings
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and broadcasting experience, plus
• Five years experience hosting a music program for radio
• A demonstrated deep knowledge of jazz, blues and related music
• Experience operating audio and broadcasting equipment
• A demonstrated facility with computers, digital audio production and website content management
• A demonstrated facility with social media platforms and knowledge of social media best practices
