Things to do in Austin - Plus a Custom Playlist from KUTX

We are so excited to gather next week in Austin for PRPD's 2018 Content Conference.  The agenda is jam packed with great sessions and opportunities to network with your colleagues.

But we also know that all work and no play makes Jack a very dull public radio colleague so we want to encourage you to get out and experience Austin - one of the greatest cities in the world.

How about taking a bike to cruise around town? Use the PRPD exclusive discount code at any Austin B-cycle station.  Use code 10018 for a 25% off a 24 hour Access Day Pass. With 54 stations around the Austin core, this is a great way to get around.

Then you can cool off at Barton Springs Pool with their free night swim.

If you're not into the heat, our hotel has a full fitness center and a lovely outdoor pool overlooking Lady Bird Lake (Psst.... it's really a river) and the downtown Austin skyline.

Our hotel is right on South Congress which is a must-stroll for visitors and a popular hangout for locals. South Congress oozes homespun character and boasts the story of Austin’s yesteryear in its boutiques, eateries, galleries and music venues. Be sure to check out Allen's Boots and the Yeti Flagship Store which is right next to the hotel!

For those of us who want to honor our history I would recommend a trip to the LBJ Presidential Library located on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin which is also the home of our host stations KUT and KUTX.

I can't even begin to recommend where to go for live music because there are just too many places!

The Austin Chronicle has a great events section and you can find all of the live music listings there along with lots of other stuff to do.

To get you into an Austin state of mind here's a playlist (thanks to KUTX) of some of the great stuff coming from Austin right now. Indie Rock, Pop, Country, Hip Hop, R&B, Psych Rock, Electronic.

But whatever you do go get some “damn good” tacos at Torchy’s and be sure to try their queso and guacamole, too!

There is still time to register! See you soon!
