Creating and Sustaining Investigative Reporting

PRX and The Center for Investigative Reporting
Monday, September 19, 2016
Hyatt Regency – Phoenix

Investigating reporting takes time, money, staff, and guts. It isn’t easy and not every station can do it. What does it take to cultivate, hire, sustain and generate great investigative reporting that can lead to changes in local communities? The Center for Investigative Reporting, one of the oldest nonprofit investigative newsrooms in the country, and PRX, the leader in audio innovation, will share what they have learned working with stations. The conference workshop with CIR staff and other practitioners will guide stations through sustainability, capacity building, editing, impact measurement, engagement and production of investigative news.

Who is it for:

  • PDs who have a good relationship with their News Directors
  • PDs who run news format shops
  • PDs who want to take the next strategic step in positioning themselves locally with investigative content
  • PDs who want a taste of the skill sets and initial steps to take local stories further
  • PDs concerned with impact and measurement
