General Manager

Window to the World Communications, Inc. (WTTW/WFMT)

WFMT (classical music radio station) is seeking a General Manager. This position is responsible for supporting WFMT by providing vital and relevant content across multiple platforms (e.g., Radio, digital, podcasting) that meets the needs of our listeners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise day-to-day broadcasting, programming and production for WFMT.
  • Supervise WFMT program director and other key direct and dotted line positions.
  • Work with staff and WWCI management to identify a clear vision for WFMT and deliver content that is in line with the vision.
  • Design and manage an organization that is highly productive, encourages and rewards collaboration and encourages high-quality output.
  • Meet with key donors to further engender loyalty and share WFMT updates/opportunities.
  • Oversee the WFMT syndication business, including station relations and operations.
  • Manage through dotted-line responsibility, radio sales, engineering, marketing/digital resources.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance content development, marketing/promotion, community engagement activities.
  • Provide input to WWCI’s strategic plan and lead team to execute against the plan.
  • Serve as a leadership team member for CEO.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: 10-15+ years of senior management experience at major media or fine arts organization. Radio production, on-air/broadcasting, Classical music, revenue generation/ management, podcasting and non-profit experience desired.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Business, Media or related field. MBA preferred.
