Compensation

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees daily operations of KUVO Jazz, supervises personnel, and is responsible for overall broadcast programming.

  • Articulates the station's vision and helps the staff understand their role in achieving that vision.

  • Creates, implements, and manages the sound, image, music, brand, and standards of the station through all distribution channels to reach and exceed goals for ratings, revenue, and profitability

  • Manages the KUVO Jazz Programming Staff and volunteers; maintains working relationship with all departments within the station. Meets with Programming Staff weekly.

  • Coaches, directs, and provides constructive feedback to all on-air hosts to maximize their performance. Conducts air checks with on-air staff.

  • Works closely with the sales team to develop and enhance client relationships and revenue

  • Works closely with marketing team to develop contests, promotions, and events to raise brand profile

  • Works closely with membership team to produce and execute on-air membership campaigns

  • Collaborates with the Marketing Department in coordinating and providing content for the web site.

  • Conducts audience research, analyzes and prepares reports showing who listens, when, and for how long

  • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with producers, artists' managers, composers and other industry contacts.

  • Monitors trends, legislation and regulations that are relevant to the program's mission and makes program and advocacy recommendations to the General Manager and leadership team.

  • Works directly with national program network services and producers.

  • Ensure operation of station in accordance with FCC regulations and policies

  • Works with the GM on budgetary matters.

  • Other tasks & duties when assigned

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • APD candidates strongly encouraged to apply

  • Minimum of five years' experience in radio programming and management service.

  • High school diploma or GED

Additional Qualifications of Position

  • Substantial digital and/or broadcast experience, a strong affinity for journalism, a proven ability to lead a high-profile enterprise and strong cultural fluency including a track record of achievement in diversity, equity and inclusion.

  • Innovative and creative broadcaster with strong leadership and motivational skills.

  • Demonstrative track record of leadership in building audiences through effective radio programming.

  • Manages multiple priorities and brings new concepts to fruition.

  • Possesses excellent management and communication skills with the ability to work in a highly collaborative work environment.

  • Knowledge of music formats with an emphasis on jazz and Latino music.

  • Appreciation for non-profit mission while operating with a strong business focus.

  • Ability to represent KUVO's interest to select partners, communities, National organizations, and other public service organizations.
