Producer for “The State of Things” – Temporary Position

North Carolina Public Radio WUNC, Chapel Hill

North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC, the public radio station licensed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is hiring a temporary producer to join its daily, live radio show, "The State of Things." Successful candidates will help WUNC produce this program that puts the news of the day in context with the North Carolina experience.

The State of Things Temporary Producer will create and produce segments for the program on a range of subjects. S/he will select and research topics, pre-interview and book guests, write scripts, and edit audio clips. The producer will also create content for the web and social media.

Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience: Associate’s degree in electronics and three years of progressive experience in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media engineering environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism or related field. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a public radio newsroom. At least 1-2 years of experience as a journalist and/or radio producer is preferred. Preferred candidates will also have experience working on a live radio program and familiarity with North Carolina’s issues.
