It is sure to be a rocking good time as host stations KUT and KUTX in Austin have an incredible opening night planned for you at the historic Studio 6A, the original home of Austin City Limits, the longest-running music series in American television history.
After that we will move into two and a half days of intense sessions. We've already told you about Keynote Speaker Kate O'Neill and the following sessions:
- Engagement for Everyone
- Next Gen Radio: Preparing Future Radio Professionals
- Developing a Successful New Show

- The Culture of Journalism is Bigger
But there's more....
“The Daily” Equation
“The Daily” was born out of a traditional public radio format. What does that format look like when powered by Times journalism and a newsroom of over 1,500 journalists worldwide? Hear from “The Daily” host Michael Barbaro, along with Theo Balcomb, the show’s managing producer, as they share what they’ve learned from combining the best practices of public radio with classic New York Times journalism to create a new form of audio storytelling.
In this general session, PRPD attendees will be introduced to the mission, vision, values and approach to a show that occupies an enormous place in public radio listeners' - and the general audio consumers' - lives.
Well also have session on...
- Local That Works
- How to Stand Out in Today’s Competitive Landscape
- Ready, Set, Launch! Building and Deploying a Growth Strategy
- Building Empathy: Audience Interaction and Insight
- Audio Smackdown
There are even more sessions on the agenda so stay tuned.
In order to book your travel we created a conference outline with start and end times and pre-conference events. The EARLY BIRD registration expires in one week so register now to get the best rates.
And finally the hotel.... The Hyatt Regency Austin... the facility, location and view are just fabulous. Rooms are still available but they're booking fast.
The 2018 conference will be the most format inclusive in the organization’s history.
As every public radio station grapples with consumption, relevance and sustainability, the PRPD is committed to creating a setting where content leaders can learn, network and advance their careers.
As they say in Austin - Keep it Weird!
