Creating and Sustaining Investigative Reporting

PRX and The Center for Investigative Reporting
Monday, September 19, 2016
8:30am-4:00pm

Investigative reporting takes time, money, staff and guts. It isn’t easy and not every station can do it. What does it take to cultivate, hire, sustain and generate great investigative reporting that can lead to changes in local communities? The Center for Investigative Reporting and PRX will share what they have learned working with stations.  This pre-conference workshop with CIR staff and other practitioners will guide stations through sustainability, capacity building, editing, impact measurement, engagement and production of investigative news.

Pledge Drive Producer Workshop

Monday, September 19, 2016
8:30am-4:15pm

This pre-conference session focuses on developing skills that help pledge producers create, coach and deliver effective fundraising breaks that sound good too. This one-day workshop focuses on the building of strong presentation skills among all participants in on-air drives.

Join John Sutton, Sonia Lee and Roger Gomoll as they take you through a combination of lectures, listening, discussion and one-on-one practice. Course participants will emerge from the course ready to bring a higher level of quality and efficiency to their stations.

Space is limited in both workshops to ensure each attendee gets the attention they need to bring new skills back to their organizations.

Public Radio Tech Survey 8 - Registration Open

The 8th Public Radio Tech Survey (PRTS8) goes into the field May 9 and you need to be a part of this project.

PRTS is the only national research project that allows you to get station-specific data on the ways your audience members perceive, appreciate and use digital media. It is the longest running national project on digital media and public radio listeners. This longitudinal view provides you with the contextual intelligence you need to remain a relevant, vital entity in your community. And if we are not relevant and vital, there is no way we can maintain a sustainable revenue model.

Planning for the Future

PRPD is embarking on a strategic planning process and your input is essential as the board and staff get together later this month to chart the course of this organization.

As the only organization fully committed to supporting the entire public media content community, we want to hear from as many people as possible - not just our current members.

Since we are all deadline driven we aren't giving you a month to do this... we are giving you just a little more than a week.

So go grab your beverage of choice - coffee, water or diet coke (or in the case of Bill Davis at KPCC - an ice cold Dr. Pepper) and take 15-20 minutes to complete the survey.

Please help PRPD plan for our collective future.
